Movie Review : Ishqiya

Ishqiya is a masterpiece, or at least an 'almost'....

The movie is very involving, keeping you hooked to your seats at all times, except the end though which just let's you out of the theatre confused! (Someone please clarify the end to me??!!!)

Ishqiya is different and a welcome change. After a long time was seeing a movie based in rural India. It's not a candyfloss movie but a strong in-your-face kind of movie, and maybe thats what makes it stand out. It has its moments, and moments which will shake you... Deceit, passion, 'ishq', the naxal movement.. its all there!!

The characterisations are good and uncovered layer by layer.. All the characters in the movie fit well and are well developed.. The story and screenplay is good, and the way it unfolds keeps you wondering how it will all piece together in the end.. Acting is natural too as well as the rural setting.. very realistically handled (except Vidya Balan, its sooo tough to imagine her as a villager from UP/Bihar:) ). Lot of abuses, so watch out for that..

All in all, fun to watch..except the end.. Would give it 3.5 stars.
