Victory and Euphoria

We've won it! 2011 Cricket World Cup is India's! Dhoni and team have done it for the country:). After years of watching world cup after world cup and being disappointed everytime, its finally happened! And Sachin finally gets his hand on the elusive trophy. Still can't believe it, still hasn't sunk in.. but its true!! We are the world champions now.. Finally, and after so long...!!! Will remember it for long, we were there when it happened.. Following India through the initial stages, where they struggled many times. But when it came to the big matches, the team stepped up! Australia beaten at Ahmedabad and Pakistan beaten at the high profile match at Mohali. And the final.. cheering and following each ball with waited breath.. ! This is one match, one win our generation will remember!! The unhappiness with Mahela's century.. the lost hope when Sri Lanka made 274.. the panic when we lost Sehwag and Tendulkar too soon.. and then the rocking knock by Gambhir...

An interesting one... " One day you will ask me which is more important ? My life or yours? I will say mine and you will walk away, not knowing that you are my life......"                                                                 - Khalil Gibran Very very romantic and senti.. and a lot of sadness also espoused in these beautiful words...beautiful:). Khalil Gibran is apparently the third most selling poet in the world after Shakespeare and Lao Tzu. The flow in his writing is just brilliant.. And of course, he tends to give lot of quotable quotes..  'The Prophet', one of his English works talks about everything in life: love, friendship, death, religion, life, right and wrong.. everything that life can encompass.. and gives a very interesting take on each of these aspects.. a must-read...plus a lot o...

Its not a new quote am sure, but still worth mulling I would say..... Kabir’s quote on life and death... 'Jab hum is jag ko aaye, hum roye aur sab hasen.... ... aisa kyon na ho ki is jag se jab jaaye, toh hum hasen aur sab roye...' Inspiration to live a full and happy life?:)

Quotes from here and there...

A superb line by Chetan Bhagat: " The amount of money that is in your bank at the time of your death,is the extra work u did, that u should not have done " I am not sure if I agree with this or not, but surely an interesting way of looking at life:). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- An interesting quote from a book I read recently: " More often than not, truth loses out to reality" Its very very interesting and something we fail to see many times in life.. truth is not everything, truth does not win everytime.. reality does.. and that truth and reality are not the same, though we may mistake them for each other sometimes.. one is more stronger than the other... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A quote on travel, which I can sometimes relate to (unfortunately!)..." No matter how much you try, you will never be truly home as a part of you will remain...

TIME magazine's quote on Sachin Tendulkar

Got this as a forward, after Tendulkar made his "unbeaten 200". Am not sure if this is genuine or not, but still a good one... "When Sachin Tendulkar travelled to Pakistan to face one of the finest bowling attacks ever assembled in cricket, Michael Schumacher was yet to race a F1 car, Lance Armstrong had never been to the Tour de France, Diego Maradona was still the captain of a world champion Argentina team, Pete Sampras had never won a Grand Slam. When Tendulkar embarked on a glorious career taming Imran and company, Roger Federer was a name unheard of; Lionel Messi was in his nappies, Usain Bolt was an unknown kid in the Jamaican backwaters. The Berlin Wall was still intact, USSR was one big, big country, Dr Manmohan Singh was yet to "open" the Nehruvian economy. It seems while Time was having his toll on every individual on the face of this planet, he excused one man. Time stands frozen in front of Sachin Tendulkar. We have had champions, we have had le...

An insightful thought....

" Yeh jabr bhi dekha hai taareekh ki nazron ne Lamhon ne khata ki thi sadiyon ne sazaa payee..." WAH WAH!!! (TRANSLATION : These are the lessons of time: for the mistakes made by moments, the punishment is meted out to centuries) A beautiful sher, which I read in an article on the ibn site discussing the Kashmir problem.. so true for so much happening in the world now, and in our lives too...!! Isn't it beautiful????

Cricket Quotes

Here are some (emotional) quotes from a function to honour the Fab Four of Indian Cricket (Tendulkar, Dravid, Ganguly, Kumble)....... Kumble on Sachin “You’ve had the challenge to prove everybody right, I had the challenge to prove everybody wrong...” Sourav on himself: "“Over the past 12-13 years I’ve made good friends and made some enemies, but it was all for the good of Indian cricket and, hopefully, you’ve enjoyed walking the path with me.” Kumble on Sourav: “Enjoy the last four days (of Test cricket)... You’ve been fantastic and it’s under you that we learnt to win Tests abroad,”

Quotes

Here are some random quotes collected over a period of time.. they are not mine, and if someone knows who to attribute these to, will do so...Will put up some more as and when I get time.... ........... (MY FAVORITE, CAN CALL IT MY MOTTO IN LIFE..) Sair kar duniya ki Ghalib, zindagani fir kahan.... Zindagani gar rahe bhi sahi, naujawani fir kahan.....?? wah wah wah.. ........... As we were getting ready to say good-bye, I looked at him and seen tears in his eyes, I had no idea how much it was hurting him to watch me walk away, But there was nothing I could do or say, So I held my head up and and tried to be strong, Little did I know I'd have to put him in my past and move on, How am I suppose to put all the memories behind me, It's not all that easy, My head's telling me to let him go, My mind is telling me to hold on just a little longer, I guess what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. ........... "Forgiving a terrorist is left to GOD. But fixing the...
