Movie Review: Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Zindagi na milegi dobara, as would be expected with such a star cast, had managed to raise expectations a lot..! And it did match those, but failed to surpass them..

The first half of the movie is awesome fun! Three friends on an adventure trip across the towns of Spain, three men who try to be boys and have some old-styled fun! The dialogues are witty, the jokes outright funny, poking fun at each others shortcomings: its all just like the old school and college days:). The jokes in this half of the movie are the type that you would laugh out loud at while rocking your seat. Totally enjoyed it!

Farhan Akhtar was a revelation, he totally rocked as the funny guy of the group. His expressions when trying to crack a joke or stifle a laugh were just so real! Hritik was a caricature of the materialist banker, though of course his actual profession could not be ascertained with certainty:))! Was he a trader or an investment banker or a broker! But thats not important I guess. Abhay acted well, as the quiet straight guy. Katrina did what she does best anyways, look good! This time she did have a lot more dialogues to say though!

And as expected, the second half of the movie dealt with all three dealing with their own issues: finding an unknown father, realising the importance of relationships over money and figuring out one's commitment to a marriage.  And that is where I thought the movie lost it. It got too senti, meandered a bit and lost the pace picked up in the first half. It wasn't bad though, but not the best edited piece either.

Still a movie worth a watch. Music was average. Cinematography beautiful. Will be 3 stars from me.

Update: Don't know how, but I forgot to mention one of the best sequences of the movie! Bagwati! It was insanely funny, can't even imagine how the writers came up with such a brilliant idea but it fit in so well with the whole mood of the movie. It was downright funny how Farhan gives a personality to an Hermes bag, and his reactions were so realistic everytime he would deal it. Just loved the expression on his face when he sees it kept carelessly on the floor when Abhay and Kalki are having an arguement. Very well acted by Farhan, must say!
