Bhagat Tara Chand

I had been hearing for ages about the awesome food that you can eat at some place called BTC (Bhagat Tara Chand).. A friend used to go there every weekend apparently and raved about it all the time.. So I decided to check it out for myself if it was worth all the praise and what a worthy revelation it was!!

BTC is located in Kalbadevi area in Mumbai and serves Sindhi food. However, there are five-six shops in that area all of which use the same name!! Its tough to find the original one now:). My guess is it used to be one famous eating place earlier and now after family feuds and splits, all the brothers use the same name for their own shops. Apparently all of them serve similar food, so you can try any of them. On the outside they don't seem impressive, but you just need to go in once to know what they offer!!

Anyways, first of all, reaching this place is a nightmare! Its near the Mumba devi temple in Kalbadevi and is one of the most crowded areas in Mumbai. The cab driver may just refuse to take you all the way, given the crowded roads at that place, and may just drop you much before, so that you walk your way navigating through the roadside stalls and vendors and the hajaar crowds and all!

But once you reach there, you will find it all worth it. The food there is again one of the best North Indian food have had in Mumbai. The place is full even at Monday lunch time! Everything here tastes heavenly (and unhealthy!!) The things to definitely try are the butter roti, the dal makhani, the paneer and the papad mixed with onion that they serve. You will keep eating and eating here, will not want to stop.

Though a warning is in place, after a meal at BTC, you will (over) eat so much that the rest of the day will be spent in lazing and sleeping around only. You will not be able to do anything else that day. So a dinner might be a better idea than a lunch there:).

A must go place for Bombayites, at least once.
